I purchased the Speck CandyShell Case for my iPhone 3G S about 2 months ago and am VERY satisfied with my purchase. Prior to purchasing this case, I had a simple rubber case which provided good protection for my phone, but was a bit difficult to get out of my pockets of my jeans due to friction issues. While this case does have rubber around the entire opening, as well as on each corner, it easily slides in an out of my pockets. Of course, that means that is has a hard time staying put on slick surfaces, so you need to decide what your criteria are for a case and buy the appropriate one for you.

I love the design and appearance of this case. It really looks sleek, and it definitely provides protection for the phone. I have dropped my phone a couple of times on hard surfaces and this case didn't allow any damage to occur. Sadly, the back of the case does get a bit scratched up after time and it is not quite as sleek-looking as it was when it was new, but better that happens to the case than the phone, right?

I did not use the screen protector that came with the case as I already had one on my phone. Your screen protector will remain in place, and unaffected, when you put the case on. The case fits up to the chrome bevels on the phone, but does not obscure them. The tight fit of the case also prevents dirt from getting in along the edges and scratching your phone. But, you want to make sure there is no grit in the case before putting it on or the tight fit will then cause scratching.

I have read other reviews here that complain that the phone is difficult to remove from the case. While it is certainly more difficult than my old rubber case, it really is not bad. Just push on the Speck logo on the back with both thumbs and it pops right out.

My only complaint with the case is that the hole for the headphone jack is just a bit small and my headphones would not plug in snugly with this case. However, I was able to solve this by buying a Headphone Adapter for Apple iPhone Recessed Jack, 3.5mm Male Female Extension Plug - White which is a very inexpensive option.
