Sure wish I had read the reviews prior to buying two of these cases. Yes, it has a bad smell, and no it does not securely hold a camera. In addition, the materials are significantly cheaper than any camera case I have ever owned....I will never find out how long the materials will hold up, because I wouldn't dream of putting my camera in it. There is no zip pocket and the Velcro closure is totally inadequate. The slightest contact is likely to open it and let the camera fall out.
